About the Steel
SS415 stainless steel is a heat-treatable martensitic stainless steel designed to offer a balanced combination of strength, wear resistance, and machinability. With slightly higher strength than SS410 and improved machinability over standard martensitic grades, it is well-suited for components requiring moderate corrosion resistance and good mechanical performance. SS415 develops high hardness through heat treatment and maintains dimensional stability, making it ideal for shafts, fasteners, and valve parts. However, like other martensitic stainless steels, its corrosion resistance is limited compared to austenitic grades.
Applications
-
Pump & Valve Components
Ideal for shafts, stems, and spindles requiring strength and wear resistance.
-
Fasteners & Bolts
Used where strength and corrosion resistance are both needed.
-
Motor & Machinery Shafts
Suitable for rotating parts exposed to moderate wear and corrosion.
-
Hydraulic & Pneumatic Fittings
Preferred for precision-machined parts requiring good machinability.
-
Industrial Bushings & Sleeves
Provides wear resistance in mechanical assemblies.
